PHI pumps
My new, but a few seasons old, Phi pumps. Frances first alerted me to the Phi closing sale via twitter, and Julia snagged them for me before they were gone (and also took the above photos). I wasn’t totally sold on the toe of the shoe at first, but the heel hardware won me [...]

Based on a Shoe Story: Balenciaga Wedges Pt. 2 (x3)
February 3rd, 2010 48 Comments
Balenciaga platform wedges, American Apparel Disco pants, Vintage top
The Balenciaga wedges… While it seems like some time after I posted, everyone and their grandma ended up with a pair (I see why!)… I ended up with 3. But who’s counting?
I bought my blue pair before any Balenciagas ended up at DSW in Union Square for [...]

Heads Up: Jeffrey Campbell Sale Tomorrow!
February 2nd, 2010 11 Comments
(top) my fave Jeffrey Campbell oxfords – flats! GASP! (bottom) my current jeffrey campbell wishlist
Warning: my next, like, 3 posts are about shoes, but then I’ll have a trip to NY to talk about (heading to NYFW Feb 9-19!).
Considering I work in fashion, I think my shoe collection is quite humble. I just buy what [...]

Rosebowl Flea Market
January 16th, 2010 26 Comments
flea market fodder; me: target hat, costume dept. sequin leggings, AA shirt, JC potion boots
Last Sunday I wore leggings as pants (stfu) & met up with some fine blogging ladies (Lucrecia, Annabel, Ev’yan, & Taghrid – who ducked out early, so I sadly didn’t get any pics of her & her awesome gold shoes) at [...]

Rodarte x Target Leopard Lace & Bow Dresses
December 20th, 2009 48 Comments
Rodarte for Target Leopard Lace Bow Dress, Tulle Bow Dress, YSL Imperiale pumps, Mom’s necklace
As a big Rodarte AND Target fan, I was prepared to do some serious Target-hopping this morning to get my hands on at least 1 of these two dresses.
Lucky for me, I found the entire collection in a nice range of [...]

Christmas Came Early… YSL Imperiale Pumps
December 11th, 2009 18 Comments
So about 3 days after ordering these, YSL called to say they were sold out in the US in my size (38) and they’re really sorry but would I like them in nude or grey? No way Jose said I, but I heard they ran a tad small so I asked for a 38.5, and [...]
My Work: Style Section LA Q&A with Gale Parker, Clothespin Boutique
November 24th, 2009 11 Comments
My first piece for Style Section LA, a new website started by two former LA Times editors, is up. I did a Q&A with the inspirational lady mentioned in my last post, Gale Parker, at her new boutique Clothespin. Gale is pretty fucking rad; she was muse to YSL, Valentino, and friend of Andy Warhol, [...]

Want: kai-aakmann keyhole drape sweater
October 30th, 2009 10 Comments
Last night I attended the GenArt Fresh Faces show at the Peterson auto museum (which was the biggest and most Bryant Park-like show of LA Fashion Month – which is officially coming to a close). The show was good, not mind blowing, but definitely some new(ish) designers who will become Urban Outfitters staples if they’re [...]

Something New: Crushed Velvet Thigh High Socks
October 11th, 2009 13 Comments
I can’t remember exactly when I had a vision of crushed velvet OTK socks, but I was obsessed with finding them ever since. Sockdreams (pun unintended), my usual go-to for all things legwear, failed me on this one. Sometime between scouring shady ebay listings, shadier online sexwear shops, and every unsavory e-retailer in between, I [...]

Paying Way Less: Alice + Olivia for Payless Fall 09
September 3rd, 2009 9 Comments
Ok, these Stella McCartney inspired wedges from Payless are awesome. Krisitn at Bleach Black cut off the gym sock part which makes them even better. But I was born a bargain hunter – so I did the hunting (and the math, and I usually suck at math) for you & here is how to get a Layla hobo bag for free or the shoes for even cheaper.

Inspiration at the mall
August 3rd, 2009 5 Comments
I avoid the mall if possible (except for regular trips to H&M and F21), but ended up at the South Coast plaza with my mom this weekend. I was so enamored with these white haired, french revolution inspired, mannequins at Mango that I had to get my Modelizer on and snap a pic. I might [...]

Shoe Story: Tashkent by Cheyenne Crespo Flats
June 19th, 2009 6 Comments
I’m short, and rarely attracted to any shoe under 5 inches, but instantly fell for these. Me walking in flats feels something like finding my sea legs… but sometimes, heels are just out of the question.
Sunday Sun-daze: Fairfax Flea Market
June 15th, 2009 5 Comments
Yesterday was just one of those perfect sunny LA days. Sunday morning Canter’s, shopping at the Fairfax Flea Market, followed by walking in Silverlake, the best $3 meal I’ve ever had at el Siete Mares, and a movie (Away We Go – so cute!). All alongside great company. I bought another copy of Alice, an Indiana Jones-ish hat and the sailor hat above. Deanie got 2 great chairs for a steal.
