Gold Digger: Bijules Bone Bar Ring

Bijules Bone Bar Ring & Sean’s Ray-Ban shades

This is the latest steal in my love affair with Gilt. I’m trying to avoid the usual Gilt puns, so instead of saying I’m glad I don’t feel too “Gilty” about the price of this ring let’s just say I think this ring is beautiful, some of Jules’ best work yet and I am thrilled I actually get to own it.

This is also my very first ring in gold – which I’m really liking on my skin tone, though gold calls for more wardrobe palette adjustment. I feel like silver vs. gold is more of a generational preference, but of course personal too. For example, my Grandmother wears all gold all the time, while Mom wears both gold and silver but never at the same time. I tend to go all silver with most accessories, but definitely mix metals on occasion. Which do you prefer?

Oh, if you care or noticed my tattoo says “contrariwise,” an Alice/Carroll ref, and I was bored with my bangs and color so I got some new hair. You can’t tell here but it’s lighter. I haven’t styled it yet but I’ve got some plans…

  • I loooove this ring! Awesome getting it on Gilt! I need it in my life, in gold. I used to be a silver girl, and still use some, but am really into gold as of late.

  • I love how you can just say “I was bored with my bangs and color so I got some new hair.” So cute! You really are like a living doll! Heehee.

  • hey, what a find! Lately I’ve been wearing both gold and silver together..like my gold Love bracelet with some silver bangles and my silver Hermes cuff. I used to dislike the two tones together but now I think it can look really nice depending on the severity of the jewelry. But I keep my things pretty simple.

  • Love the ring, love the tattoo!

  • Very cool ring indeed. I love the connected bones! I love to mix metals. It used to be all silver, but then when I got married, we decided to go with a classic yellow gold for the engagement and wedding ring. The watch I always wear is rose gold, and the rings I wear on my right hand tend to be silver. So yeah, I pretty much have all colors on me at all times!

  • I love gold jewelry — that’s all I wear. I’ve never been much for silver because it just doesn’t have the same effect (for me) against my skin. Perhaps I feel this way because I’m darker and gold just pops so beautifully.

I can’t wait to see the new hair!

  • I remember this sale, and I was soooo ready to pull out my card but unfortunately mose of the sizes were 6, 8 and lets just say I have huge fingers. So I had to past on this, their pieces are amazing, I love them.

  • I’m so mad I missed out on that sale! I just started reading your blog and its one of my favorites. Hot tatt too.

  • I love the detail, it looks gorgeous.

  • i’m very into knuckle rings lately as well. & i never thought about it much, but you’re definitely right about silver vs. gold as generational; i truly cant think of any fine jewelry i own that isnt silver or white-gold! fun to switch it up though.

i’d forgotten about the “contrariwise” tattoo; so awesome.

  • I LOVE THE RING. I got a two-finger Erica Anenberg ring off of Gilt once, and I really love it. I adore the look of rings that span multiple fingers and I always get comments on my ring.

I usually prefer silver because the yellow tones of gold don’t work well with my yellowish skin tone and my hair(green like grass…). Also, I’m still young and 1. don’t feel like “grown-up” enough to wear gold and 2. would rather invest in good gold when I can afford it rather than try to pull it off with cheaper gold.

  • i generally don’t mix metals, but hey, i’m open to anything. after all, i did once wear pink tights, a gray dress, docs, and a scalloped blazer and came off looking like a madcap panic at the disco-circa-2006 fan. lol

  • I definitely prefer gold, especially bangles mixed with a bunch of mala beads in all sorts of colors. I should invest in some silver, but I know I would not wear it as much. Love the ring and tat.

  • I mix metals all the time….actually, I tend to mix anything…breaking fashion rules is exciting to me (:

and also…I love your hair and your tattoo. (:

  • **and the ring!! duh..totally forgot to say that :P lol

  • Hot purchase! It’s so unique… bit of a twist on the trendy, which is perfect :D

I mix my jewels a lot… try not to give it too much thought, except for what feels right. But I do agree, it’s a generational difference. Our parents and grandparents had so many more rules!
