I heard the news just as I was boarding a flight to NY and my heart broke then and there. Julia put it best for me, and I’m paraphrasing here, but it feels like fashion, art, the world even, lost some of the brightest (and perhaps darkest) hues in the spectrum along with McQueen. Things may be that much duller without his constant challenge, but the imprint McQueen left through his life and work can undoubtedly spark the creativity needed to bring the poetry back to fashion. Whatever your game, I dare us all to try and shine as brightly as Alexander McQueen.

that is a beautiful way to put it, and i was extremely devastated he has done so much work that no one else could ever accomplish in this fashion world
I sound so much more eloquent when you paraphrase me. lol. I shot more images of the current display today. I can’t walk into MePa without crying.
you’re exactly right…he brought poetry to fashion
so eloquent jazzi—fashion will certainly be a less colorful place without him.
this has to be the most beautiful and hopeful statement I have read regarding what happened, thank you
Well said. Or paraphrased.
Yes, it’s devastating. Found out on Twitter at 7am that morning and had to tear myself away to go to work. Hope you had a great time in NYC! xo, Mel
He was a great guy and a great designer.
