[Maybe, but cooler?]
I knew Heron Preston was ‘cool’ the second I landed on his blog. But more often than not, the whole “cool kid” appeal ends there.
Then I delved a little further into Heron, his work, his side hustles, etc., and was officially… interested.
See, Heron is cool – and also nice, smart, and a total go-getter with an appropriate hint of ‘don’t-you-know-who-I-am?’ to compliment his track record. He’s an entrepreneur (not the kind that’s code for “unemployed”), works in advertising by day, and his own cool shit by night.
The side project that piqued my interest is the Young & the Banging, a “co-created yearbook” of other young, cool, folk who are doing things in NYC. Not just pretty hipsters as I thought at first glance.
So – I connected with Heron and we shot the next “What’s in Your Bag?” outside of the Young & the Banging gallery @ 255 Elizabeth Street in NY :)
Go get your yearbook pic taken and come to the closing party on the 27th!!

I totally saw him posted on an advertising blog a few weeks back. Something along the lines of “hot (wo)men in advertising”. Heron, if you are reading this, does your agency have any internship/entry level positions open? I realllly want your planning job!

I’m having trouble telling WHAT exactly he does. Take photos of young new yorkers that he deems “cool”? Not trying to be rude, but how is that original or important?
no, not rude! it’s getting hard to tell exactly what a lot of us do because we do SO much… but i assure you he does more than “deem people cool”.

I emailed him and was like “How am I not on this list but people I went to school with are? Next project?” And he didn’t reply. No lovez for moi.
Maybe I’ll go to the closing party, but only if you go because I haven’t seen you in forever plus a month.
